The first painting created after lockdown was lifted, and retouched early last year. The piece denotes the story of the sun moving through the sky, with the warmth hitting different parts of my face as it was being built. Painted outside in a public garden, as the day progressed the movements became more gestural, more emotionally charged - a documentation of finding confidence in painting in public after being locked away for months.
